The White Swan

Fokine thinks about Anna. We flashback to Anna as a young girl. She sees beautiful ballerinas and compares herself. Anna strives to keep up with strict training. She meets Fokine, who wants to break tradition. Petipa, Anna's teacher, represents tradition. Pavlova meets Dandre, who wants to help her rise to Prima Ballerina. She is awarded for outstanding dance. Anna rehearses with Fokine.

Anna is late for rehearsal. Anna envies Mathilde. Fokine dances with Anna, and the show goes well. There is an explosion at rehearsal. Anna sees a man killed. Diaghilev feels Russia's Art is compromised. Fokine and Pavlova are at his studio. Their performance goes excellent. It highlights old school and new modernity. Diaghilev decides to make a theatre for new talent. Anna joins them.

Anna's 'Dying Swan' dance is well known. Diaghilev runs his company. Pavlova wants to run her own company. She leaves Diaghilev's company and joins another. Anna signs to Alfred Batt. Anna tells Dandre she made her own company and asks him to be a manager. Anna gets a cramp before going on stage but dances and is an instant success. She is warned that her actions will make people at home angry.

The Great War contributed to leaving Russia. Anna meets the Kaiser. He offers her to use his theatre. Archduke Ferdinand has been assassinated. Russia is not safe. They travel to South America. There's an outbreak of disease. Everyone is dying. Anna dances for locals, who are moved by the performance. Anna and Dandre go back home. Anna wants to return to Russia. They go on tour for ten years.

Anna and Dandre marry but keep it a secret. Anna and Fokine see a dance claiming to reject old school. Fokine hates it, but Anna likes it. Anna teaches young girls ballet. Before she can return to Russia, Anna has to travel. She gets sick and needs an operation. There's a chance she can never dance. She would rather die. In her last words, Anna asks for her costume from 'The Dying Swan'.
