Ice Lake Rebels

The off-grid rebels repair aging houseboats, build new houseboats, install insulation and more before the big arctic freeze hits their homeland.

Just as the Great Slave Lake inhabitants begin making their annual transition to the polar winter, veteran Ragnar dives deep into the tundra to save a missing visitor.

Stephan and Allyce’s remote cabin makes their dog Dora a target for wolves. As subzero weather batters their makeshift tent, Kyle and Peyton improvise to stay warm. Pike Mike takes off-grid living to a new level and teaches Molly Arctic survival skills.

Winter means no rest in the frozen north. Kyle and Peyton use native ways to cure meat and preserve a hide; Molly builds a water pump so she will not have to drill into 6-feet of ice; Stephan and Allyce discover the water on their lake is contaminated.

Molly and Stephan install a wind turbine to power her barge while their fellow residents face the hardships of living on a frozen lake.

Temperatures are rising and the frozen waters are beginning to melt and become quite dangerous for the residents of the north.

The lake has thawed but conditions are still a threat. Pike falls into perilously cold water and has minutes to be rescued. Kyle and Peyton find a bear near their home and reconsider houseboat living. Stephan causes a fire that may destroy everything.

Bears, new boaters and fire all threaten the livelihoods of the lake residents now that spring is in the air.

The rebels reflect on everything they learned during their six months of exciting, unpredictable and tumultuous winter living.
