Astronauts - Toughest Job In The Universe

Legendary astronaut Chris Hadfield and his team of experts put 12 exceptional candidates through a grueling series of physical and psychological tests, including drawing their own blood and hovering a helicopter.

The remaining candidates are pushed to their limits in a simulated emergency splashdown. They then must successfully operate the next Mars rover. A social event gives Chris and his team a chance to scrutinize their characters.

Old fears surface when the remaining astronaut candidates face a series of swim tests. They then learn basic Russian before heading off to the German space center, where they attempt to dock a Soyuz spacecraft.

The competition grows fierce as the candidates head out to a secret facility in Sweden, where they endure oxygen deprivation and a ride on the human centrifuge.

The candidates are grilled by Chris Hadfield and his panel of experts in a probing interview. Those who make it head off to the Kennedy Space Center to carry out a spacewalk dive in an underwater marine lab.

The finalists experience weightlessness for the first time and dive down to a NASA underwater facility in Florida. They then return to London, where Chris Hadfield reveals who has what it takes to be an astronaut.
