In 1977 French motorcyclist Thierry Sabine was in serious trouble, lost and alone in the Libyan Desert. But instead of worrying about whether he was ever going to get out of there, Thierry was already thinking about coming back - to do a rally. Thus the 9,000km Paris-Dakar Rally was born. The event became a beacon for eccentric adventurers battling the dunes in hand-customised vehicles.
