The New Years

It's the early morning of January 1st, 2016. Óscar is feeling down: he's gone to a nightclub with his ex-girlfriend, Vero, thinking he still has a chance with her. But he's wrong. It's the same nightclub where Ana works as a waitress. When the club closes, Ana and Óscar meet at a bar.

December 31st. Ana joins Óscar for a dinner party at Guille and Ali's. While they wait for Óscar's father to arrive, the guests entertain themselves with a game where all the tensions of the evening will play out.

It's the morning of January 1st, 2018, and Óscar and Ana have a terrible hangover. They spent New Year's Eve in Ana's apartment, and the house is a mess. They only have one plan today: to spend all day in bed.

December 31, 2018. Óscar and Ana have invited Ana's parents and Óscar's mother over for a New Year's Eve dinner. Meanwhile, Ana has received an exciting job offer.

January 1, 2020. Ana and Óscar reunite in Berlin for a whirlwind day of reconnecting, roaming the city, and trying to get into one of its most famous techno clubs.

Early morning of January 1st, 2021, in the emergency room of La Paz Hospital. It's the first COVID Christmas. Although Óscar finished his shift hours ago, he's still working.

December 31st, 2021. Ana now lives in Lyon, and runs a Spanish catering service. As her sisters arrive with their mother to celebrate New Year's Eve, Ana faces the night with an unexpected piece of news.

It's early in the morning of January 1st, 2023. Óscar runs into Ana, who's come to Madrid for a few days. They're both in a hurry, but they have a coffee together.

It's the afternoon of December 31st. Ana and Óscar have arranged to drive in the mountains to see Guille, who has been in a detox center for a couple of months. They have the whole day to themselves.

It's the morning of December 31st. Ana and Óscar are in a hotel in downtown Madrid. They think they've reached a decision about themselves, and about their relationship. But they still have 40 minutes to change their minds.
