Kitty Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) is a waitress engaged to David Livingston (Regis Toomey) though his mother opposes her son's marriage. After her release from a three-month prison sentence, Lane becomes an overnight musical sensation and renews her romance with Livingston and his mother finally consents to the marriage.
