The talented forensic scientist Jack Hodgson joins the team as head of a new forensics department. As he and Nikki investigate the murder of a pub landlady, inconsistencies lead them to believe their prime suspect, the husband, may be innocent. Elsewhere, Leo, Nikki, and Jack find themselves in war-torn Afghanistan to identify a body thought to be that of a long-missing British soldier.
