The Salkantay is a trek connecting the city of Mollepata with Machu Picchu. It consists of an ancient and remote footpath where massive snowcapped mountains collide with lush tropical rain forests.

Formally known as the Kingdom of Lo, the Mustang Kingdom was once part of Tibet and became part of Nepal in the 1950s. It remained an independent part of Nepal until 2008. Between that time, few tourists had ventured through his high-altitude desert.
