The Quiz Show

In a white-walled room, Satoru Kamiyama (Sho Sakurai) sits lifelessly until director Toshio Honma (You Yokoyama) brings him to Galaxy TV's studio-he is host of the hit show The Quiz Show. With the show going live, producer Ryoko Saejima, AD Rena Takasugi, lighting tech Gengorō Matsuzaka, and the crew are tense.

As Kamiyama sleeps in the white room, fragments of memories from the previous Quiz Show resurface. Meanwhile, Honma (You Yokoyama) tells Saejima (Miki Maya) he wants cell-phone novelist Mika (Minami) as the next guest. After the premiere's 30% rating, Honma is emboldened; Saejima resents his move but must comply.

Programming chief Tadokoro warns Saejima that since the show went live, exposed contestants have suffered consequences. Ignoring her concerns, Honma chooses ordinary man Kenji Miyamoto (Hiroki Narimiya) as the next guest, claiming youth Hajime Takahashi (Yuta Kanai), summoned in Dream Chance, holds the key.

As magazines debate whether the quiz show should expose contestants' secrets, the next guest is charismatic fortune-teller Nokko Yutenji (Yuko Asano), a top-rank talent the network must secure. Tadokoro warns Saejima not to upset her. After reviewing the questions, Saejima tells Honma to follow the plan exactly.

Haunted by fragmented memories, Kamiyama (Sho Sakurai) fears he may have killed a woman named Misaki by a lakeside, and his headache returns. Honma (You Yokoyama) tells him that hosting The Quiz Show will help him recall the truth. Meanwhile, Takasugi (Aya Matsuura), noticing their strange behavior, grows curious.

Takasugi (Aya Matsuura) grows suspicious that only Honma (You Yokoyama) knows Kamiyama's (Sho Sakurai) full background. Meanwhile, Saejima (Miki Maya) is scolded by Tadokoro (Takaaki Enoki) for letting Honma dominate the show. That day's guest, 35-year-old Makoto Katsuragi (Ken Horiuchi), lives with his mother, is unemployed, and risks 100 million yen on the quiz.

Former Quiz Show producer Yamanobe (Shigeyuki Totsugi) suddenly appears before Honma (You Yokoyama), warning, "Everything you do will come back to you." Kamiyama (Sho Sakurai) recalls Misaki (Elena Mizusawa) by the lakeside but fears regaining all lost memories. Honma shows him the next contestant's photo and orders him to keep hosting.

Kamiyama (Sho Sakurai) recalls high school memories with Honma (You Yokoyama) and Misaki (Elena Mizusawa) and realizes Misaki has died, though details elude him. Meanwhile, Saejima (Miki Maya) is fired by Tadokoro (Takaaki Enoki) over a broadcast accident and returns home to live with her daughter Minori (Nozomi Ohashi). She is then invited to The Quiz Show.

Yamanobe (Shigeyuki Totsugi) warns Saejima (Miki Maya) that Honma (You Yokoyama) is risking his life, shocking her. Realizing continuing The Quiz Show is the only way to save him, she returns as producer. Just before the live broadcast, Honma tells Takasugi (Aya Matsuura) to direct and disappears. Staff protest, but Saejima approves.

In the finale of The Quiz Show, Kamiyama (Sho Sakurai) declares he will confess all his crimes. Over staff protests, Saejima (Miki Maya) gives the go-ahead, and the live broadcast countdown begins. As Honma (You Yokoyama) watches from the floor, a spotlight reveals Kamiyama on stage, and the fateful live show begins.
