Still mourning the death of his wife Caroline, Doctor Miguel Cascarro scrambles to pay off their debts as he refuses to give up their ancestral house. One night, while driving on his way home, Miguel finds a troubled and badly beaten woman lying in the middle of a country road. He welcomes her to his home and nurses her back to health. An intimate relationship soon blossoms between them.
