Popeye the Sailor

POPEYE has trouble when Pappy wants to learn to fly a plane. Pappy nearly drives him crazy in his efforts to become a pilot at POPEYE'S Airport. / POPEYE has a difficult time convincing his Pappy that flagpole sitting isn't the safest hobby in the world. / POPEYE takes on the enemy fleet, including an aircraft carrier and planes. His strength reinforced by spinach, he becomes a one-man scourge.

POPEYE "Remembers Pearl Harbor" and takes on a new foe -- a submarine. / Sailors POPEYE and his rival Bluto are in a Latin American port, vying with each other for the attentions of Olivia Oylia, a conga-loving Latino. / POPEYE's nemesis is a leering hypnotist who attempts to lure Olive Oyl to his home. Olive comes under his spell and a series of hilarious escapades befall her as she wends her way to the hypnotist's abode.

No sooner do POPEYE and his sea-going sidekick, Bluto, agree that "wimmin is bad luck," that Olive gallops up the gangplank of the battleship the boys are on. / When Olive notices a number of pesky crows ruining her vegetable garden, she calls for POPEYE'S assistance. / POPEYE is in the Navy and Bluto is in the Army, but Bluto is confined to camp limits.

POPEYE and Poopdeck Pappy violently disagree on how Swee'pea should be raised.. POPEYE believes in the modern methods described in child psychology books but Pappy opposes him. / POPEYE is in a shop looking at bearskin coats for Olive's Birthday present. Deciding on getting the real thing, our hero heads for the forest where he meets a big bear. / POPEYE takes pity on old Rip, who doesn't appreciate the sailor's interest in him.

A bunch of flies buzzing around his head disturb POPEYE'S nap and he shoos them out of the window. But there is one fly, obviously a devil-may-care fellow, who resents POPEYE'S treatment and flies back into the room. / Olive wins a sweepstakes and causes POPEYE trouble when a gust of wind blows the winning ticket out of her hand. / POPEYE starts a one-man anti-noise campaign when his Pappy suffers that "morning-after" feeling and street sounds aggravate it.

POPEYE joins the US Navy and routs the enemy in a one-man battle, but not before he causes his commanding officer plenty of aggravation. / Bluto thinks he needs a complete rest; POPEYE, however, soon teaches him that honest toil is best as he puts him through a workout in a rest hospital. / Sailor POPEYE, faced with many menial tasks, fastens a couple of mops to the prop of his plane, substitutes water for bullets in his machine gun and goes about cleaning the deck of the ship.

POPEYE creates his own cartoon idea and casts himself as the hero and Olive as the heroine in a spoof of an old-fashioned melodrama. / POPEYE tangles with a tough woodpecker (who talks and acts like Edward G. Robinson) as he searches for a mast for his boat. / Olive Oyl throws a birthday party for POPEYE and he brings his shipmate Shorty to celebrate. Shorty tries to help Olive bake a cake for POPEYE.

POPEYE meets a tough hombre who not only eats nails but chews up tin cans and other hardware. He's Billy da Kid, alias The Hungry Goat, and he causes big trouble when he gets on board a battleship. / POPEYE'S four nephews unwillingly sample a plate of spinach and then give their uncle a hard time. / POPEYE'S four little nephews welcome him back from the war zone with a home front defense drill that nearly wrecks him.

Spinach turns POPEYE into a one-man US Navy during a World War II battle against the Allies' adversaries. / POPEYE induces Bluto to join the Army. Bluto is a bit reluctant at first, but the might of POPEYE'S fists convinces Bluto that Uncle Sam needs fighting men. / POPEYE delivers his precious and needed cargo of spinach to Britain, despite the efforts of a Nazi submarine to sink his ship.

POPEYE seeks rest and contentment in his easy chair but his four little musical nephews have other ideas. / POPEYE and Bluto desire to win government contracts to build ships, and vie with each other in constructing the biggest and best ship in the shortest time. To the winner is to go a huge contract. / POPEYE and Bluto are on a battleship anchored off a tropic isle.

Olive entrusts the care of Swee'pea to POPEYE while she goes on a shopping tour. POPEYE tries unsuccessfully to amuse Swee'pea by whittling toy boats for him, but Swee'pea won't settle for anything smaller than the big ship riding at anchor ... a destroyer. / POPEYE'S nephews would rather go fishing than work in his victory garden, so he tells them the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
