Hi-5

Kathleen announces her pregnancy and explores size, shapes and fractions (squares, triangles, halves and quarters) when she practices nappy folding. Meanwhile, Jup Jup brings presents for the baby and plays the attention-seeking toddler. Kathleen also introduces her friend Sun and asks her to mind the puzzles space while she's away. Nathan works out how to turn a Mexican Rebozo blanket into a baby

Chats wants to send a Happy Birthday message to babies around the world. She and Kellie imagine flying around the world in a biplane, wishing Happy Birthday to all the new babies in a variety of languages

Nathan makes and decorates a German 'schultuete' for a friend's first day of school and fills it with treats. Sun pretends it's her first day of school in Alaska. Jup Jup pretends to be a moose. Charli is a giant Schultuete who is nervous about her first day at school.

Chats has been cooking. Kellie helps her use descriptive words to turn dishes from the unappetizing to the irresistible. Charli uses her facial expressions to describe different tastes and smells. She also makes a Greek salad with real ingredients. Nathan packs a healthy Greek lunch for Tim to take to the park.

Nathan Toucan explores space, as he tries to remember something important he has to do. Charli does the hare hop and the wallaby hop and dances like a rock lobster. Kellie and Chats make each other guess what animals they're pretending to be - a tree kangaroo, a mountain gorilla, a rock lobster and a sheep dog.

Chats has created a health drink. Now she needs a jingle. With the help of Hi-5 customers, statements become rhymes and rhymes accumulate to become a song. Charli physicalises the health drink jingle from WP and performs a traditional Japanese dance. Sun explores 2D and 3D shape, counting, patterns and sequencing when she makes sushi rolls.

Nathan wants more challenging exercise so makes some exercise equipment from things in his space. He realises he has created his own gym. Charli pretends to be a weighlifter using a broom as a dumbbell and juggles three coloured silk scarves. Sun explores concepts of shape, weight and counting when she plays some indoor balloon games.

Nathan explores shape recognition (interpreting drawings of figures in action) and spatial awareness when he reprises his Games Show Host in "What's That Action". The actions in the game are daily routines - showering, putting on pyjamas and walking a dog. Charli practises the routine of brushing your teeth and also practices her dance (waltz), co-ordination and balance skills when she dances.

Chats has invented a Happiness Machine. Kellie tries to keep a straight face but with the absurd actions and silly made-up words she is required to say, she can't help but laugh. Charli performs a fun finger action song about feelings and twirls a ribbon lasso and does a country style dance. Nathan gets into karaoke!

Sun explores concepts of size, shape, length and relationship when she checks teeth at the animal dental surgery. Jup Jup plays havoc as a tooth fairy that leaves tooth brushes of varying shapes and sizes. Charli is the animal tooth fairy collecting teeth. She explores gross motor and fine motor skills (circular arm actions), stretching and repeated movement when she is a street sweeper.

Kellie is making some interesting shapes with her body as she does some stretches. She turns her body into letter shapes and spells the word 'face'. Charli explores gross and fine motor skills and emotion recognition when she plays a game using a mat with different faces on it. She mimes the emotions displayed on the mat using her face and body.

Nathan the Weather Man forecasts the Hi-5 weather using symbols on a chart. When the sun comes out Charli decides to hit the surf. She paddles out, balances on the board and tries some surfing tricks. Sun explores concepts of counting and patterns in movement when she makes up a dance to say "I love you". Charli has a precious toy bear.

Sun explores counting backwards and problem solving when she uses technology to send a message and see if there's anyone in space. With Jup Jup's help she lands in Jupland. Charli mimes different modes of communication to a song - mail, telephone, email and hand gestures. She also becomes a futuristic dancing robot.

Nathan explores levels, space (confined vs open space) and animal and environmental shapes when he makes himself a lion's den and dresses as a lion. Charli practices the 'lion' and 'cat' yoga stretches and does a silly, high energy banana dance. Sun pretends to be a big gorilla showing a little gorilla how to do gorilla talk.

Sun makes a butterfly mobile to say 'thank you' to her mother. Charli pretends to be a big pelican and creates two different sculptures from clay. Nathan sets up a Hi-5 sculpture exhibition. He tries to interpret what each artist is trying to communicate through their art. Tim is a painter who discovers that his easel can play music.

Chats' hot water system is broken. In the process of fixing it, she and Kellie go on a fantasy journey exploring underwater hot vents and the amazing creatures to be found there. Charli the plumber attempts to fix a leaking tap and pretends to be a sure-footed mountain goat.

Kellie and Chats imagine life in the goldfields. As Chortling Chester Chatsworth and Crusty Kelvin McKelligan, they search for gold and find a nugget. Charli mimes panning and digging for gold and practises her knitting - a skill taught to her by her nan. Tim the Swiss yodeller yodels a message to his cousin Heidi.

Sun is a shoe designer and with Jup Jup's help she makes an amazing pair of shoes. Charli uses a pair of stilt shoes - fantastic, funky feet - to walk and stomp. She also goes prawning at night, wading in the water, spotting with a torch. Nathan sets up a pier and goes fishing.

Sun goes on a bridge climb to experience the amazing view. Sun meets the Nathan twins along the way. They are amazed at the view of Jup Jup in her back pack. Charli and Sun use their bodies to create different bridges over the river. Engineer Kellie builds a pyramid and Pharaoh Chats overstocks it with some bizarre precious possessions.

Tim, a David Attenborough style naturalist, is recording humming sounds in his garden. Charli's tap shoes are decorated as garden creatures - 'garden tappers' - they make tap sounds. She also pretends to be a stick insect on a branch. Kellie has an animal in a box. Chats tries to guess what it is by making animal sounds. In the end it is revealed to be a cricket.

Nathan is the ranger in a tropical rain forest. He's putting in new signs with the plant names and mixes them up. Charli is a spiky cactus and also pretends to be caught up in lots of sticky situations. She works on getting unstuck. Chats has left something behind in her old box.

Nathan is going to a picnic with all his relatives and it's his job to organise some ball games. Charli plays ball with a real dog and dresses up as a woolly mammoth for a woolly mammoth dance. Kellie and Chats imagine what it would be like to be Cave People. Kellie draws a mammoth and she and Chats describe it using fun caveman language.

Sun uses her imagination to go shopping in a magic elevator. Charli gets out of an imaginary elevator and finds herself on different 'action' floors and is sent a baseball bat and hockey stick on the flying message machine. Nathan rigs up a flying fox so he can send messages to Tim.

Sun pretends to dig for treasure in Ancient Egypt. Jup Jup puts out clues for her to follow. Charli puts on different hats and performs its associated action and dances in a small pair of clogs using her hands then a big pair on her feet. Nathan shows off one of his favourite treasures - his old highland dancing trophy.

Nathan makes some new portraits of the Hi-5 gang. Charli skips to a skipping rhyme and puts on a giant nose and follows it to her favourite smells. Chats has found a new way of preserving memories - as smells trapped in jars. Kellie smells the samples and a variety of memories are conjured up.
