In February of 2013, 17 year old Anene Booysen was brutally gang raped and mutilated. Her death caused a massive outcry from South Africans, but the national outrage was short-lived. One year later, it seems that not much changed in the small town of Bredasdorp. Commentators have speculated that the culture of South Africa is still not taking violence against women seriously.
