Galicia, 1960s. With fifteen children and a motorbike, Father Silva launches Benposta, a city governed by children called upon to change the world. Their message finds an unusual showcase that quickly triumphs worldwide. Los Muchachos!

1970-1975. After a disastrous start, Los Muchachos achieves unprecedented international success: Paris, New York... Benposta becomes an educational benchmark. But the children grow up, they want to form an active part of Benposta’s future, and the Priest’s leadership is questioned.

1975-1985. Los Muchachos travels all five continents on an unusual tour packed with excess and surreal experiences. Meanwhile, Benposta, far from the glamour of the Circus, is going through significant struggles. The Priest has been unable to keep up with democratic Spain and is on the brink of bankruptcy. The drums of war are rumbling…

1985-2000. The problems worsen. In the Spanish welfare state, Benposta runs out of children, and the Priest must go to the Americas or Africa in search of them. A city plan threatens to extinguish Benposta, and a ruthless political-media war breaks out. Benposta has become the backdrop for a thriller.

2000s. The war for Benposta enters its bloodiest episode yet: the revolt of the former Muchachos who aim to save the institution... or dethrone the Priest, according to their critics. It is a fratricidal struggle that darkens the Priest’s final years. What is left of that utopia today? Benposta Colombia, as was the case 60 years ago in Galicia, offers a glimpse of hope to children who had none...
