Wonders of Volcanoes with Dara O'Briain

Dara O Briain begins his mission to uncover the inner workings of volcanoes. His journey starts in Sicily, home to the mighty Mount Etna, Europe's largest and most active volcano. He reluctantly takes a cable car to the crater of the mountain and visits its unearthly landscape. While the volcano produces fear and worry for the locals, it's also responsible for remarkable, wine-producing soil.

Dara O Briain continues his journey across Italy to uncover the secrets and science of volcanoes. He travels to mainland Italy and, with the help of volcanologist Dougal Jerram, learns about a deadly phenomenon known as a pyroclastic flow. In Naples, he explores the story of Mount Vesuvius and its 79AD eruption, discovering that the volcano is not the most dangerous in the region.
