Instead of venturing far offshore, the team begins their mission in suburban Sydney, where an offshore predator has unexpectedly moved into local waters. These creatures are adapting in unprecedented ways. The black marlin, one of the largest bony fish, remains largely mysterious despite its iconic status in Australia. Al and the crew embark on a mission to help science unravel the secrets of this heavy-weight predator. Their journey takes them to Exmouth's remote waters, but in an unexpected twist, things go terribly wrong, and they find themselves at the entrance of Sydney Harbour instead.

Yellowfin tuna, once common inshore, now require long journeys offshore. Al and his crew team up with researchers to tag them further south than ever before. Capturing stunning footage of massive yellowfin near a remote island, Al is sidetracked by a rare sperm whale encounter. As wild weather intensifies and time runs out, the team must give everything to complete the mission.

After successfully tagging the first swordfish, Al and the crew are tasked with deploying another satellite tag. However, they hook one of the biggest swordfish they've ever encountered, leading to a fierce battle. Things take a turn for the worse, and the crew is forced to head south. They soon realize the satellite tag is missing, pushing them to improvise in a truly ingenious way.

Al and the crew head to Exmouth to target the sailfish, the smallest member of the billfish clan. Known for their beauty and popularity, sailfish are crucial to marine research. Teaming up with scientists, they aim to satellite tag the fish and capture underwater footage. To do so, Al ventures into shark-infested waters, with a side mission to a unique, remote sailfish fishery.

The final mission proved to be the toughest yet, as Al and the crew were tasked with deploying the first-ever satellite tag on a striped marlin off Sydney. Early season conditions made it a challenge, with numerous obstacles along the way, including catching the wrong species.
