Madagascar

Madagascar is an island of extremes with rain forests in the east and scorching landscapes in the south. The animals and vegetation of the dry southern regions are mysterious, and their survival strategies are extraordinary.

The rain forests that cloak Madagascar's eastern mountains are one of its most luxuriant landscapes. This little-known region of towering peaks and precipitous escarpments is home to over half of Madagascar's unique species.

Madagascar's isolation and geology have developed bizarre landscapes, as well as the unique wildlife that populates these environments. In splendid isolation, it has evolved its own wildlife with more than 80% found nowhere else.
