Monkey Planet

The series begins with a look at adaptations that have developed to allow primates to succeed in different environments around the world. Among the animals featured are tarsiers, geladas, orangutans, baboons and snow monkeys.

The complex social lives of primates are explored. In Peru, male emperor tamarins handle childcare duties, while barbary macaques in Gibraltar steal babies. Also featured are vervet monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons and lemurs.

The series closes with an exploration of primates' flexible brains and how they are critical to their survival. Long-tailed macaques in Thailand floss their teeth with human hair and a bonobo in the United States can use a phone.
