2010 - Carl Williams' dead body lies on a cold tile floor in Barwon Prison.  Blood pooling.  Two crims here, not moving, not even looking at him.  No prison guards coming, no alarms, no help arriving.  Everything deathly quiet and still. 

Nicola represents a client named Ahmed, who's been running a drug house on behalf of Tony Mokbel. In the house is a pill press, plus cash and drugs. 

Nicola's devastated by the death of Terry and Christine Hodson. Did she do enough to protect them? Was she somehow complicit? And was it Paul Dale who paid for the hit?  

A terrified Nikki tries to keep it together. With danger at every turn, she wears a wire and informs against her own clients, breaking the cardinal rule of every lawyer. She knows if she's caught that, at best, she'll never work again as a lawyer and at worst, she'll be killed.
