The Z-Unit assembles in Saskatchewan during early October to meet with Scott Butz and the Waterfowl Obsession Crew. Warm temperatures along with local hunting pressure has Whitey scattered. Experience and scouting are what it will take to save the trip.

Fred meets friend, Brad Harris, in Saskatoon. They travel to the Oil Fields of Northern SK in search of cooler temperatures and Lesser Canada Geese. 'With the wheat harvest in full swing, an abundance of fresh forage creates a waterfowl mecca.

While waiting on mallard migration to reach Fred's duck camp, large numbers of arriving scaup have been reported rafting nearby. Fred enlists experience of local Captain Nate to navigate the treachery of Lake Erie in search of open water divers.

The King of all waterfowl, the Canvasback has a majesty and mystique all it's own. Traveling to Lake St. Clair, Fred joins friends Tim and Jeff on a quest threatened by mother nature. Destination, the lake's celery beds for limits of Canvasback.

On the way home, Fred stops by PTO in Kansas to visit Zach White. A large number of Lesser Canada Geese and Specklebellies in the area quickly become the topic of discussion as Fred sees opportunity for one last stack to cap the 2016-2017 season.

Battling dabbling ducks only feeding at twilight and below freezing temperatures, the Z-Unit works overtime keeping water open at Fred's duck camp. A quickly approaching storm threatens to bring inches of snow and lunchtime limits of green.

Winding down after a rough season, Fred makes one last run to the rusty puddles of Oklahoma. Consistent reports of long sprigs and cotton tops prove to be worth all it takes to get there.

Reports of migrating mallards has left stockings stuffed as the Z-Unit heads dead west to Kansas. A shift in the unseasonably warm weather has hopes high. Long time friends, Gunner and Hunter are along on holiday break.

Sub zero temperatures setting in along the N. Platte River have isolated a tremendous number of migrating dabbling ducks onto the last remaining open water, a warm water slough. '"It's not every day you get to shoot a 12 man limit of greenheads".

Reaching well below negative 20, the Z-Unit heads to Colorado to a well known dabbler hole called "The Hot Tub". After fighting forming ice, the crew discovers a new shade of CO green, a Pintail x Mallard Hybrid.
