Betty, a self-destructive and alcoholic woman, drifts through Parisian bars until a man drives her to a restaurant outside the city called Le Trou. There, she meets Laure, a middle-aged alcoholic from Lyon and the lover of the restaurant's owner, Mario. Laure takes pity on Betty and brings her to the room next door in her hotel, offering care and companionship.
