It is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Marçal Aquino,published in 2005. The film is a love story set in a mining town in the backwoods of the state of Pará, in Northern Brazil. This is the Wild West of Brazil, a country where everybody is an outsider, the perfect backdrop for a story of desperate love.
