Johnny Rogan and his brother leave Canada in search of a better life. They arrive in a goldmining town in New Zealand, hoping to strike it rich.

The brothers' spirits are lifted after finding gold.

After his brother is killed by a ruthless bandit, Johnny must find his way alone.

The sheriff arrives to arrest Johnny when he is accused of stealing the company's gold. Johnny flees and the town searches for the wanted man.

Johnny is tricked into stealing a flock of sheep from a wealthy land baron. After he is kidnapped and taken in for questioning, he is left stranded to find his way back to town. The Reverend agrees to be the miner's candidate in the forthcoming elections.

The Preacher reconsiders representing the miners in the upcoming election after the Dunston Globe is burned to the ground.

Johnny arrives at Hine's campsite where the Natives are planning their revenge against the mining company that stole their claim.

The Ladies of the Lake arrive in Dunston to perform for the townspeople. Henry is approached by the sergeant who searches through his haul. Lily leaves home.

Johnny and Henry strike gold and decide to mine the area without registering a claim. Lily begins to realize her new life is not what she expected.

Johnny is blamed for the death of his fellow prospectors after the riverbank floods. He heads north and discovers Lily is trapped by the ringleader of the Ladies of the Lake, unable to escape.

Johnny, Lily and Henry return to save the other women held hostage in the camp. When Johnny and Lily return to Dunston, Henry interrupts a special event.

Johnny and Lily leave their wedding in a stolen carriage and discover a chest full of money inside.

The sergeant continues to search for Henry Garrick, and Johnny and Lily are worried about the fate of the theatre.

Johnny is captured by Mr. Cooper and interrogated about the girls' money. Henry is found and brought in for trial.

The police accuse Johnny of killing Stanley Smith. Henry shows up at Lily's aunt's house, but he is not who he seems.

After the death of Hamish, Johnny and Lily arrive home in Dunston.

Lily's father hosts a night of music, dancing and free liquor, but not everyone is looking forward to it.

Lily is set to leave town, but Johnny is nowhere to be found.

Much to Lily's surprise, Henry turns up at the provincial council alive. After showing up drunk to the meeting, Reverend Scropes falls ill. Lily heads out to the desert to find Johnny in trouble.
