Medina: The Celebrity Scammer

Years ago, Jorge Ponce was scammed by a man claiming to be a former work colleague with a personal drama. He soon discovered that the same thing had happened to Andreu Buenafuente, Dani Rovira, Joaquín Reyes, and other colleagues. It all remained as an anecdote among comedians until 2023, when Jorge found out about a new case and set out to find the scammer and tell the story in this documentary.

The search for Antonio Medina goes back more than twenty years with the trail of a children's and youth programme in which our man could have been a cameraman. The inability of the documentary team and the detectives to make progress in the investigation puts the existence of the series itself at risk.

The news that a television programme with more resources is also on the trail of Antonio Medina undermines the team's spirit. And perhaps that is not the only competition: different news of fraudsters in the world of television have made the subject "fashionable". Jorge sees only one solution to get to the top: to set a trap for Antonio Medina using his celebrity friends as bait.

All attempts to locate Antonio Medina before the other TV programme have fallen on deaf ears. The team is increasingly discouraged and, as if that wasn't enough, Jorge seems more and more disconnected from reality and proposes one last madness: to try to swindle the media who are looking for the scammer. But he doesn't count on the fact that the budget has already run out.

Months after the end of the documentary, Jorge brings the team back together as a matter of urgency because he has the most important clue yet: someone has just found Antonio Medina. The team immediately sets off in search of him. With the result, they get the green light to make one last episode. Will Jorge be able to meet Antonio Medina again?
