The Last Settlement

At 49, David doesn’t want to die--but that doesn’t matter to the cancer that suddenly ravaged him. Tormented by the question of “why me?”, David concludes that it was years of hurt that made him ill and he hurls posthumous accusations.

David's letter upsets his younger sister Mirjam. She is even more annoyed, though, that her sister-in-law Julia is lying to everyone. But when Mirjam tells the truth, she learns the hard lesson that the truth is not rewarded in her family.
