After standing up to a group of obnoxious older boys on a train, 12-year-old Ryoma Echizen ends up playing tennis against a high school star. Ryoma seems confident, but does he stand a chance against his opponent's physical advantages?

Echizen checks out the Seigaku tennis club and runs into some troublesome upperclassmen.

Word about Echizen, the amazing newcomer to the Seigaku club, has spread. Meanwhile, the Seigaku regulars return to awe the first year students with their skill.

Echizen is in D Block of the school ranking tournament where he’ll be competing for a regular’s spot on the team. He’ll be up against upperclassmen, including the serpentine Kaoru Kaido, aka, the Viper.

The match between Echizen and Kaido continues. Kaido uses his special technique, the Snake, to keep Echizen off balance.

Inoue and Shiba are headed to visit Ryoma’s father, Nanjiro Echizen, a legendary tennis player. It proves difficult to get answers from him about his past and Ryoma.

The April ranking matches continue, and Echizen’s slotted to play Inui, a third year regular. Inui is an even stronger opponent than Kaido. Can Echizen beat him to land a spot as a regular?

Both hoping to claim #3 singles in the City Tournament, Echizen and Momoshiro decide to battle it out. Locating an open street tennis court, their plan goes sideways when they hear about the court’s special rules.

It’s the day of the City Tournament and the Seigaku regulars are preparing for their first match. What lineup has Ms. Ryuzaki decided on against Gyokurin?

Echizen and Momoshiro flounder in their doubles match against Gyokurin’s Izumi and Fukawa. Can their strategy hold up against this experienced pair?

After Kakinoki is unexpectedly eliminated from the City Tournament, Seigaku is up against an unseeded and virtually unknown team in the finals.

Fuji and Kawamura continue their match against Fudomine’s Ishida and Sakurai in #2 doubles of the City Tournament finals.

After a quick #1 doubles match, the City Tournament is put on hold as the rain worsens. Kaido, playing in singles #3, grows restless as the tournament officials decide whether or not to resume the matches.

Echizen continues to battle it out with Shinji, but a surprising turn of events causes Echizen to be injured.

Momoshiro and his teammates go shopping after practice. Hearing a purse-snatcher, Momoshiro commandeers Kamio's bicycle and gives chase but they encounter An being assaulted by two hooligans. Momoshiro and Kamio challenge them to a doubles match.

Nine days until the Metropolitans begin and Seigaku practices zone rallys. Whichever side loses has to drink Inui's special vegetable juice...

Echizen accompanies Sakuno to Mr. Haritatsu's shop to have her racquet restrung. Echizen's father and teammates are keenly interested to follow them, but are disgusted by what they see.
