Traveling sales trainer Alex Wright cannot live without his state-of-the-art mobile phone. He is a modern man on the move, and it is his number one means of communication, entertainment, personal assistant, and constant companion - all rolled into one. His work also includes one other benefit: his colleague Davina, usually overnight at a motel whenever Alex can make excuses to his wife, Janet.

Geeky IT worker Darren inherits a mysterious sealed metal jar from a distant wealthy relative. Hoping for coins, property deeds or a work of art, he is disappointed and grossed out to find that the jar contains a human brain, floating intact. Research reveals that the jar belonged to an even more distant relative who was an eccentric scientist, surgeon and inventor from the 18th Century.

Paul, Janie, Trax and Hugh work together at video game design company. The four friends are frustrated with their boss and company founder, Doc, who is refusing to consider an extremely lucrative bid for the business which could make them all millionaires. Instead, Doc is obsessed with the new game he is creating with the help of a mysterious, ancient book.
