Forensics: The Real CSI

The inside story of the investigation of a murder case which recently made national headlines. A woman calls 999 to report finding a schoolboy lying with a stab wound in Birmingham's Trittiford Mill Park. Police and paramedics rush to the park, where they battle to stabilise the boy, before he's taken to hospital. He's named as 12-year-old Leo Ross.

It's the early hours of the morning when a frantic teenage girl calls 999 to say that her friend hasbeen attacked and stabbed in a car park. Police rush to the scene, where they find a 16-year-old boy with a life threatening stab wound to his stomach. While his life hangs in the balance,the case is escalated to West Midlands Police's Homicide team led by Detective Inspector Ade George.

In Cumbria, a 999 call comes in at 1am: a supermarket cash machine is being broken into by agang of thieves. They're working at speed, using high-powered cutting equipment. They maketheir getaway before police arrive, taking thousands of pounds. It's the second cash machine inCumbria targeted in 24 hours.

A mother calls 999; her 11-year-old daughter has returned from staying at her dad's house,saying that a stranger has come into her bedroom in the night and sexually assaulted her. Aforensic team immediately heads to the crime scene, led by Crime Scene Coordinator Rachel Hughes.
