When Mary Ashley is approached to become the US Ambassador in Romania, she does not take the offer because of her husband's job. She reconsiders the offer after her husband is killed in a car accident. Arriving in Romania, she is confronted with a complex plot, in which the American President's current plans to improve relations between the U.S. and Communist countries shall be sabotaged.
