A teenage girl dies in the hospital. Esperanza, her mother, is convinced her daughter is alive and has been kidnapped. Saint Judas the Apostle, who appeared in her oven, told her so. An old priest believes her and encourages her to follow the saint's instructions. Her search goes from Tlacotalpan, Veracruz to Los Angeles, California.
