Vera (Sienna Miller), a famous New York actress , has let her reckless, petty-criminal ex-boyfriend into her apartment. After he attacks her and a struggle leaves him dead Vera panics and hides his body in a trunk. When a policeman (Alec Baldwin) visits the apartment he gets the feeling not everything is as it seems, and Vera's sanity is called into question.
