The Woman in White (1982)

On the eve of his departure to Limmeridge, Walter Hartright encounters a mysterious woman on Hampstead Heath, unaware that this strange meeting is to color his whole life.

Walter was startled by resemblance of Laura Fairlie to the woman in white who he has find out is Anne Catherick. He and Laura are in love but she is pledged to another so he must leave. Meanwhile, the charismatic Count Fosco seems charming, but what is his real motive?

Walter has left England and Laura has married Sir Percival who is trying cheat her out of her fortune. Marian has written to her lawyer for help. Meanwhile, encounters with the terrified Anne Catherick add to a general sense of unease.

Glyde confesses to Fosco that he is in debt and worried that Anne will reveal his secret. Marian overhears but is ill and helpless as Fosco plots to steal Laura's fortune.

Fosco and Glyde have deprived Laura of her fortune and identity as Anne is buried as Lady Glyde. Meanwhile, Marian and Walter join forces.
