Great West End Theatres

Also known as Haymarket Theatre or the Little Theatre, it was built in 1720 by John Potter and was the third public theatre opened in the West End. Owned by the Crown Estate.

Owned by Sir Cameron Mackintosh. Grade II listed as of 1999. In the 1950s, the theatre hosted a variety of famous performers from Bob Hope to Benny Hill, Frankie Howerd, Peter Sellers, and Morecambe and Wise.

The Piccadilly Theatre has presented most forms of stage entertainment from Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (with its original Broadway cast) to a variety of Royal Shakespeare Company productions including Edward II starring Ian McKellen, and Henry Fonda also made his West End debut in the solo play, Clarence Darrow.

Designed in 1898 by W.G.R. Sprague (who also designed six other London theatres) it was opened by the actor/manager Sir Charles Wyndham on 16 November 1899, in the presence of the Prince of Wales.

Built by W.G.R. Sprague in memoriam for Richard Greville Verney, the 19th Baron Willoughby de Broke. It's the only theatre in the West End still in the hands of the family who built it.

This delightful theatre sits opposite the renowned restaurant The Ivy, the favourite haunt of the theatrical glitterati.

Home to record-setting musical theatre runs; the current production, Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'The Phantom of the Opera', has played continuously at Her Majesty's since 1986.

The Palace Theatre has hosted a number of successful productions, including No, No, Nanette, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar and the sensational Les Miserables - which ran for nineteen years.

The theatre has hosted a number of notable productions, such as Noël Coward's first play I'll Leave it to You, in 1920, and George Bernard Shaw's St. Joan with an acclaimed performance by actress Sybil Thorndike ran in 1924.
