Federal Agent Michael Cates (Lucky Vanous) delivers the testimony that nails crime lord Jacob Calder (G. Gordon Liddy) and in instant retaliation, Cates' wife and daughter are murdered in a thunderous explosion which just misses Cates himself.

Chance Bowman, as he is now known, befriends an Arizona widow and her young son who are struggling to adjust to the recent death of their husband/father.

Takes Chance to the Alabama lowlands and the world of stock-car racing.
