Germany's Underworld: From the Alps to the River Rhine

This is a journey through Germany's rivers, streams, and lakes, from the snow-clad peaks of the Alps to the iconic River Rhine. The force of the water creates wondrous ice caves, spectacular waterfalls, and extraordinary turquoise lakes. We meet powerful hunters like the pike and sinister meat-eating plants like the bladderwort.

We follow the migration of an ancient fish, the Atlantic sturgeon, who has been shrouded in mystery for centuries. Then we meet hunters like the ground beetle, which feeds on tadpoles, and the sea eagle, which can spot the silhouette of a fish through the opaque ice. On the banks of the river, a family of beavers explore the surroundings around their underwater lodge.
