Heirs of the Night

Lars af Dracas- the heir to the Dracas vampire clan - overhears the Noaidi predict the future of all vampires; if the clans don't reunite they will get extinct. Lars' father - Baron Magnus sends out a message to the five remaining clan to join forces.

All the other vampire clans decide to set sail with the Elisabetha for Hamburg, to pick up the one clan that hasn't responded. Right on time as the Vamalias are being hunted by the Redmasks. Alisa is hiding on a roof where she meets a human boy; Nicu. She really likes him, but Hindrik - her family's Shadow vampire - is on the roof to rescue her.

The heirs are placed into the care of the Nosferas Clan as their Elders say goodbye. Their Shadow vampires are left with them, to take care of them. Joanne is also allowed to keep Easy the rat and other pets on the ship as her clan's power is talking with animals. She will need them to teach the other heirs this power. Joanne immediately hits it off with Tammo.

Dracula's turns the Inn-keeper into his Shadow vampire, a vampire that must obey his master. But Dracula is not alone - the sparks lets Alisa see what he sees. Dracula now wants Tonka not only to steal his rubies back, but also to spy on the Alisa. Tonka uses the Lycana ruby to transform into animals, like a bat and a rat to get really close.

Nicu and his mom also arrive in Italy. Nicu still hasn't forgiven Calvina for lying to him about the Redmasks. He takes off to find himself something to read. Dracula recovers another Ruby - the Tova; so now he can move under water… On the ship the newcomers turn out to be Ivy and Seymour. Vampires from the, thought to be extinct, Lycana clan.

Alisa and Nicu are locked in a cell at the police station. Both Nicu and Alisa try to figure out what was going on, but Alisa could never tell Nicu the truth. Alisa and Nicu escape from the cell. On the Elisabetha Conte Claudio learns about the waitress that has been bitten in town.

So many emotions flow through Alisa at the moment she sees Ivy kiss Lars. She cries (and so does Dracula, to his own surprise), her hand glows… Alisa has to confide in Lars and Ivy about what is going on with her. The three decide to find out what it is all about. Together.

Alisa is furious Hindrik doesn't stand up to the Conte for his sentence, since he is innocent. Alisa sets out to give Conte Claudio the proof he so desperately needs as he does not believe Alisa's statement that Tonka did it. Alisa need the book on Dracula and remembers seeing one in Nicu's house.

As Tonka hands over the Arrufat ruby she stole to Dracula, she tells him about how Alisa walked into the sun and lived. Dracula now knows they share powers and he does not like that at all. With the new ruby Dracula is able to talk to his great love Elisabetha - who is gone a long time.

Dracula is captured by Van Helsing who wants the rubies. Alisa, also in a cage is questioned by the Conte and Contessa. They do not want to believe her when she says Dracula has awoken and is on a quest for all the rubies. But if she ís right… that changes everything. They want to ask Alisa more, but as she is connected to Dracula she passes out.

Ivy tells Alisa her and Seymour's story. Seymour made her a shadow because he felt lonely. Seymour regretted his decision to turn Ivy but she stayed with him, he was the only family they both had. They lived truly as brother and sister, not as master and shadow. So when Seymour got trapped in wolf-shape when the Upiry stole his clan's ruby Ivy promised to help him.

Being at the Redmask meeting does give Alisa insight into the dangers. The Redmasks know about the Elisabetha and are gearing up to strike it soon. On the Elisabetha Malcolm's drunk mayhem is exactly what Tonka needs to snatch the Nosferas ruby from the Contessa's neck. Tonka takes Ivy as well, so to make sure she can leave the ship without Alisa stopping her.

Alisa needs Nicu to lead her to the Redmask Headquarters so Lars can look for any plans Calvina might have for the Redmasks. Nicu likes the attention he's getting from Alisa, Lars does not and Alisa is conflicted when Nicu kisses her.
