Steve Backshall starts his perilous journey with some of the most-extreme white water rapids seen anywhere on the planet. After uncovering spectacular caves and unique wildlife, he spends the night sleeping next to the mummified remains of a Dani warrior.

With jagged rocks overhead and currents beating the kayaks, Steve Backshall's exploration of the Baliem's lower gorge puts his crew at the risk of capsizing. Then, Steve is forced to reconcile his passion for conservation while dealing with remote tribes.

In part two, Steve and the team find rare creatures and carnivorous plants, descend into a dangerous odyssey of cave exploration and abseil down the world's highest waterfall -- Angel Falls.
