In Los Angeles, undocumented Mexican immigrant Maya finds work through her sister, Rosa. After putting up with abuse from her bosses and grim work conditions, Maya is open to the pro-union rhetoric offered by organiser Sam Shapiro, but Rosa is less interested in clashing with management.
