In the season premiere, Frankie and Mike finally meet April, the love of Axl’s life; Sue wants to change her major to theatre; and Brick wants to change his image in high school.

Mike tries to help a devastated Sue get back into college after she forgets to renew her financial aid; and Frankie (PATRICIA HEATON) tries to teach Brick how to swallow a pill.

Halloween finds Frankie taken aback when she discovers that the kids would choose to live with Mike instead of her, if they ever got divorced. Sue wants her room back from Brick.

Sue (EDEN SHER) asks Axl (CHARLIE McDERMOTT) for his worldly advice when she decides to break up with her boyfriend Jeremy. And Frankie accidentally purchases some racy underwear.

Frankie and Mike (NEIL FLYNN) are alarmed to discover that it’s time to teach Brick how to drive; while Sue frets over choosing her major, she learns a shocking secret from Frankie.

With Axl fixated on April, Thanksgiving finds Frankie trying to vie for his attention. Meanwhile, Sue goes ballistic when Brick (ATTICUS SHAFFER) becomes her new Spudsy’s coworker.

Axl continues to ignore Frankie after she inadvertently admits how she really feels about April; Brick develops a new tick; And Brad (BROCK CIARLELLI) surprises Sue with a visit.

Rita Glossner (BROOKE SHIELDS) takes a frightened Frankie on a road trip to an unknown destination, while Mike takes an embarrassing fall at the quarry.

With Christmas approaching, Sue keeps a holiday secret from the family; Brick hides from the neighbor’s kids; and Mike receives an unexpected Christmas gift from Bill Norwood.

The Hecks spend New Year’s Day at the Orson Escape Room, avoiding a zombie apocalypse, while Sue reveals a secret about herself to Axl that she’s kept since childhood.

Frankie is elated when she wins free maid service for a month; Mike and Rusty start looking into assisted living facilities for Big Mike; and Axl, Hutch & Kenny move in with Sue & Lexie.

Axl panics when he realizes he only has four months of college left and no job prospects; Meanwhile, Brad agrees to help Sue’s no-cut a capella group prepare for a competition.

When Frankie is told by her doctor that her days of having kids are over, Mike offers to babysit the neighbor’s baby with Frankie – giving some perspective on being an older parent.

After the pipes burst in the basement, Axl, Sue and Brick call a family intervention meeting to tell Frankie and Mike that their constant bickering is negatively affecting them.

After Frankie gets a stubborn Mike to go see Dr. Goowdwin (JACK McBRAYER) for a toothache, he convinces him to leave it alone and come up with a ludicrous story to cover the truth.

During Spring Break, Lexie confesses to Sue that she has a crush on Axl, while Mike hires high school Coach Babbitt to help pull the quarry softball team out of their slump.

When Axl runs into just about all of his ex-girlfriends at a party – including Devin Levin, Cassidy and even Weird Ashley – he tries to figure out what the universe is telling him.

When Mike poaches his friend and neighbor’s plumber, their relationship could be at risk. And Brick spends the weekend with Axl at college to have fun and par-tay!

Brick finally meets the boy he was switched at birth with and raised by his parents for the first month of his life; while Sue and Brad try to set Lexie up on a blind date.

While Frankie takes Axl suit-shopping, Mike threatens to get rid of the family summer pool if Sue and Brick don’t start using it.

Frankie frantically searches the house for Axl’s missing graduation gift, while Brick asks Axl to help get him into shape after Cindy (CASEY BURKE) saves him from a bully.

After missing his final college exam before he graduates, Axl pleads with his professor to let him take it. Meanwhile, Sue & Brad break out into song and dance with an impromptu musical number.

In the season finale, Frankie and Mike are on opposite sides of the fence about what to do when Axl informs them that he’s going to Europe over the summer and not looking for a job.
