The Reading Wizards: Learning to Read with Phonics

Seymour learns to read words beginning with the "CH" consonant digraph. Paralee and Spelling Bee have a "chum chat." Also: Bubba the Pig chugs a bottle of soda with disastrous results. Words included: CHIP, CHOP, CHUM, CHAT, CHAP, CHUG, CHIN, CHEST.

Words ending with the consonant digraph "SH" are introduced. The word cowboy searches for the outlaw word, "wash." Meanwhile, Bubba agrees to wash a bunch of Paralee's dirty dishes. Also: The magic lamp grants Duke a wish. Words taught: GOSH, RUSH, DASH, MASH, WASH, DISH, WISH.

Words beginning and ending with the consonant digraph "TH" are taught. Bubba and Eliot compete in a reading contest while Duke judges a bake-off. Words included: THEM, THIS, THIN, THICK, WITH, MATH, BATH, PATH.

The consonant digraph "WH" is explored with the words WHEN, WHICH, WHAM, WHAT, WHY, WHIP, and WHERE. Duke demonstrates the word, "wham" by charging into a tree. Also, the word cowboy is on the lookout for "what," and Eliot gives Bubba a lot of choices to demonstrate "which."
