Ip Man: Legend

Wing-Shing joins Ching-Shan in Hong Kong to search for Ip Man, who is in hiding. They are followed by Master Hung’s men, who come to believe that that Ip Man has murdered someone. A reward is posted for Ip Man’s capture. Jenny thinks that Zi wants to locate Ip Man for the reward, so she lures him to the countryside and pushes him into a well.

Jenny recalls that Zi is still in the well and rushes there, but she fails to find him and fears he is dead. Zi reappears and is angry at first, but Jenny calms him down and brings him to Ip Man. Zi and Ip Man are happy to see each other and start a kung fu contest. Wing-Shing visits Jenny, who reveals that she is and Ip Man have grown very close. Wing-Shing is heart-broken.

Master Hung teaches Ip Man his style for the upcoming competition, while Zi studies Western styles at an underground boxing center. A boxer nicknamed “Death” is recruited to fight against Ip Man. On the day of the competition, Ching-Shan, Wing-Shing, Jenny, and Zi arrive to watch the fight. Ip Man defeats “Death” but is quickly surrounded by a group of policemen.

Ip Man and Wing-Shing return to Foshan, where they discover that Pak-Lam’s thugs are robbing the villagers in broad daylight. Ip Man is shocked to learn that Wing-Sing now works for Pak-Lam. Ip Man returns home to reunite with his family but is heartbroken to discover that his parents are living a hard life. Ip Man decides to fight against Pak-Lam for exploiting the villagers.

Ip Man works in the quarry, where Commander Lee asks his subordinates to beat the prisoners. Ip Man tries to stop it and later writes to the provincial capital. A prisoner named Big Ox discovers that Ip Man is writing for them and admires him. Ip Man teaches the prisoners kung fu for self-protection. All the letters Ip Man sent are intercepted by Pak-Lam.

Ip Man is sentenced to death, but Wing-Shing tells his parents that the sentence can be postponed if they give their house to Pak-Lam. Helpless, Ip Man's parents agree. Big Ox organizes an attack in the prison to help Ip Man escape, but the plan fails. Pak-Lam arrives to kill Ip Man, but Wing-Shing shows up with the deed to Ip's family house.

Ip Man's death sentence approaches, and Wing-Shing tries all means to rescue him. Ip Man continues to write letters in prison and with the help of the postman one of them is sent successfully. However, Pak-Lam's subordinates intercept the mail in Guangzhou. Pak-Lam is about to kill Ip Man at the execution ground when Wah-Shun suddenly arrives with two big knives.

Ip Man and Wah-Shun join together to fight the soldiers. Zi arrives with a newspaper article that proves Chun-Loi is still alive and Ip Man is not murderer. After the incident everybody realizes that the low-profile Wah-Shun is actually a Wing Chun master, and many people want to be his disciple. Leung Pik arrives at Foshan.

Both Wah-Shun and Leung Pik decide to open Wing Chun martial arts schools. Their opening ceremonies are on the same day, and both invite Ip Man to be their guest. Jenny asks Leung Pik to take Zi as his disciple, but Leung Pik only wants Ip Man. Zi is angry. Ip Man wants Wah-Shun and Leung Pik to reconcile and sends them a lion with two heads.

Jenny takes good care of Zi’s wounds. He is touched and declares his love to Jenny. However, Jenny reveals that she returned to Foshan because she wants to marry Ip Man. She urges Ip Man to marry Wing-Shing quickly just because she wants to be his concubine. Zi is deeply disappointed and disappears. Ip Man and Jenny go to look for him.
