The World From Above

This journey begins in the port of Avonmouth on the Bristol Channel, before following the river to the historic city of Bristol. A few miles to the south we reach the estate of Tyntesfield. From there we tour the Iron Age hill fort of Cadbury Camp before passing through Cheddar Gorge, the largest canyon in England.

This journey begins in Southend-on-Sea, an iconic British resort town, before following the east coast, a landscape with its own unique heritage and traditions. This takes us to Maldon, famous for its red-sailed barges that once carried goods into London. Crossing into the county of Suffolk, we reach Felixstowe, which was once one of the busiest ports in Europe.

This journey begins in the exclusive seaside town of Biarritz, a meeting place for European aristocracy and modern celebrities. Heading into the mountains, we follow in the footsteps of pilgrims to reach the extraordinary city of Lourdes, one of the holiest places in Catholicism. Entering the Midi-Pyrenees region, we find an area with its own unique culture, customs, and traditions.

This journey begins in the outskirts of Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland. Once a Viking settlement, it now stands as a symbol of Iceland's prosperity. We visit Whale Fjord and its abandoned whaling station. Then we move into the country's heartland, where the sagas of the Vikings come to life in the hamlet of Reykholt, before reaching the Hvita River Valley with its splendid waterfalls.

This episode begins in the ancient town of Assisi before crossing into the vineyards of Tuscany to the stunning gothic city of medieval Siena. From here we move to the small hilltop town of San Gimigano before passing through the breathtaking Tuscan landscape to reach Lucca, a town which manages a mix of medieval architecture and modern living.

This journey begins in the Celtic Threave Castle, where we cross the Roman Hadrian's Wall, the ancient border between England and Scotland, headed to the northern city of Carlisle. From here, we make our way along the wall to Housteads Roman Fort, witnessing stunning views to Cragside, the first house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power.

This journey begins in the dense Thuringian Forest, just west of Germany's border with the Czech Republic. We then pass over the old Cold War border between the communist East Germany and capitalist West Germany with its imposing watch towers. Finally, we we make our way north to the beautiful imperial landscape gardens of the Whilhelmshohe park.

This journey begins in the northwestern town of Donegal, before we head along the wild Atlantic way to the fishing village of Killybegs. Next, view the spectacular cliffs of the Slieve League as we pass along the rugged coast up to Malin Head, the most northerly point of the Irish mainland.

This journey begins in the walled city of Urbino, a remarkable legacy of Renaissance culture, before making our way southwards along the coast to bustling town of Pescara. From here, we return inland, continuing past mountains and dense forests towards the town of Lucera, which contains a well preserved Roman amphitheater.

This journey starts in the picturesque seaside town of Cudillero on Spain's northwestern coast, before heading along the coast to the Beach of Cathedrals, with its magnificent natural arches and caves. We continue to the Tower of Hercules, an ancient Roman lighthouse located on a headland, then to a spectacular rock peninsula, the Cape Finsterre.

This journey begins on the clear Lake Neuchatel before we travel across the vineyards of Lake Geneva to the famous French holiday resort of Evian-les-Bains. We then cross the lake to view the grandeur of Geneva, with the highest fountain in the whole of Europe. Our final destination is the fantastic Eiger glacier, popular with climbers and adventure seekers worldwide.

This journey begins at the breathtaking Lake McDonald, nestled within the dense forest of Montana's Glacier National Park, one of Mother Nature's greatest achievements. We then travel south down the Going to the Sun Road, past the Flathead River, to the imposing Chief Mountain. Finally we head down the valley to Logan Pass over fields of wild flowers that carpet the ground.

This journey starts in Tennessee at the sprawling urban array of Memphis, where we follow American military jets before traveling to Shiloh, a commemorative site of a gruesome battle of the American Civil War. There stands a towering memorial to fallen soldiers. We then head to the Rattle and Snap Plantation, a Greek Revival mansion, and end our journey in the state capital of Nashville.

This journey begins on the southern shore of Block Island at the clay cliffs of the Mohegan bluffs. As we head to the mainland, we pass over the twin point lighthouse and twin fishing villages of Galilee and Jerusalem. Continuing our journey, we travel along a swamp reservation to Wesquage Pond, before visiting Conanicut Island, formerly the residence of tribe leader Chief Conanicus.
