In the first episode, Ardal examines Irish stereotypes and issues surrounding belief, looking at the history of many well known tales featuring leprechauns, fairies and ghost hunting, and questions why the people of Ireland are so predisposed to faith.

A group of Irish Travellers invite Ardal to join them for a rare insight into their community, and he discovers how the new generation is embracing the traditions of the past.

The comedy actor investigates how the Irish became renowned as great storytellers, taking in an ancient ring fort, and visiting some of the locations used to film Game of Thrones.
