Elinor Wonders Why

Elinor is discouraged when her and Ranger Rabbit’s special forest is damaged by a fire, until the kids learn that fires aren’t always a bad thing and that the forest will grow back. Then, when Ari feels jealous that his parents are spending more time with baby Miri than with him, he learns that animals at different ages need different kinds (and amounts) of parental attention as they grow.

When no one shows up to the opening of Animal Town’s Flower Garden, Olive, Elinor and Ari are inspired by the seed dispersal of violets to figure out a new way to get folks to come. Then, Elinor and her friends each make a snow sculpture on a fun, snowy day, but the next day, half of the sculptures have melted, so the kids set out to figure out what made only half the sculptures melt.

When Elinor wants a spooky Halloween costume, she gets inspiration from creatures that can pretend to be scary. Then, when the other kids don’t react kindly to Ari’s pet sandwich mold, he, Elinor and Olive set out to find fun facts about mold, to try and show them how cool mold can be.

Elinor and her friends want to build a sandcastle at the beach, but with a moving tide, where is the best place to build it? Then, Elinor and Camilla come across different creatures during their rained-out tea party, learning how they use slime in various ways, while Camilla is continually grossed-out by slime until it helps her when her ring is tightly stuck on her finger.

After Olive and Ari have a disagreement, they learn how nature works together. Then, the kids learn the importance of meadows and make their own in Elinor’s backyard.
