Norway, 1940. Crown Princess Märtha and her children are forced to flee the country when Germany starts an invasion and find shelter in the US White House. Her and President Franklin D. Roosevelt soon develop a close friendship, but not everyone in the White House is her friend. Her presence in Washington influences Roosevelt's view of the dramatic developments in Europe during WWII.
