Doctor Finlay

Dr. Finlay returns home after World War II to resume his medical practice in the Scottish village of Tannochbrae. Although he's warmly greeted by his old friend Dr. Cameron and housekeeper Janet, he soon learns that some upsetting changes lie on the horizon.

With Dr. Neil now a partner in the practice, Dr. Cameron is free to retire from Arden House, but he seems reluctant to go. Dr. Finlay discovers that health care for the poor hasn't improved during the war years, leading to tragedy in one case.

Sergeant Forbes has been staking out the Hendersons' farm for a mysterious purpose, making the family increasingly wary. As they attend to their business, Cameron and Finlay end up getting drawn into a difficult situation.

On a house call to Mary Thomson, Dr. Neil becomes concerned that previous tests have failed to diagnose her illness. Meanwhile, an emergency vaccination program is put together to respond to a smallpox scare.

Dr. Cameron finds himself at odds with one of the prisoners at the German POW camp, while Janet frets about Dr. Finlay's fondness for Anne Stewart, a married patient at the practice.

When a famous singer turns up at Arden House looking to fill a repeat prescription, Dr. Neil ponders the exact nature of her illness. Still feeling emotionally wounded, Dr. Finlay considers embarking on a new life elsewhere.
