Fresh Tracks

Randy is joined by Bruce (CEO of Leopold Optics) and Tracey Pettet. This hunt is when the peak rut is transitioning to the post-rut period. The mature bulls have left the cows and are now seeking their sanctuary locations. Lots of younger bulls are still looking for a late-cycle cow, but the mature bulls we hope to find are in places that give them safety and security.

The Fresh Tracks crew are in the Wind River Range of Wyoming, chasing elk. Along with them on this trip is Beau Baty of Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas. Randy and the team have two tags to fill, but health and weather concerns put the hunt in jeopardy.

Randy's son, Matthew Newberg, is the lucky recipient of a Montana moose tag. Time with family, tons of moose and beautiful scenery... this hunt will surely not disappoint!

Randy joins up with long-time friend, Scott Jones to chase early season mule deer in Nevada. Many public land archers focus on the high country, but Randy takes a new approach, locating and chasing deer in the low country on a private-public land boundary. An unfortunate shot early on in the hunt, leads the crew to chase a single buck for most of the hunt. Follow along on this emotional journey!

Randy is joined by friends, John Cushman and Gerald Martin, on a public land Montana deer hunt. John is an Iraq War Veteran who sustained several injuries during his service. Since returning home, John has found comfort in getting outdoors and hunting. Also part of camp are Gerald's son's, Gareth and Timothy. Great people, lots of tags and lots of deer make for an exciting episode!

Jerry Pritchard has drawn a late season rifle elk permit for northern Arizona, asking Randy and the Fresh Tracks crew to join him. Randy has hunted this area twice in the past and is confident Jerry will find a good bull on this public land unit. Easier-to-draw late season tags mean tougher hunting.

Jim Baichtal has wanted to chase pronghorn with his traditional black powder rifle. When Jim invited Randy to an Alaska hunt, Randy encouraged Jim to apply in Wyoming, with assurance Randy would make sure his calendar allowed for him to join Jim. Lots of big bucks, lots of public land, and great friendship make this hunt one to remember.

Arizona does an amazing job of balancing opportunity with quality as it manages the legendary Kaibab Plateau. In this hunt, Randy joins long-time friend Wade Zarlingo as they ply their luck in the popular early rifle season on "The Plateau." It is always tough hunting these early season, but the old bucks are still there. Kaibab tagholders can only hope lady luck will be there when he needs it.

Randy is a pronghorn junkie. When his long-time friend, Mike Spitzer, asked Randy to join on his Nevada pronghorn hunt, there was no hesitation to accept that offer. Nevada is home to a surprising number of pronghorn, including many mature bucks. Mike has one buck in mind, a special buck that shows what kind of hunting Nevada has to offer.

Randy and the Fresh Tracks crew are in Nevada with long-time friend and prior guest, Mike Spitzer. Mike has drawn one of the coveted desert bighorn sheep tags. With a summer of scouting, a group of close friends to help, and a tag in his pocket, Mike's dreams of hunting sheep comes true. And what a dream it is.

Randy returns to the amazing Coues deer country of southern Arizona, this time accompanied by more friends and chefs, in hopes he can accomplish his dream of taking a Coues buck. Guests Brian Call, David Brinker, Wade Zarlingo, Johnathan O'Dell, Hank Shaw, and Holly Heyser, all add some extra spice to this episode. If we bag it, Hank cooks it; and cooks it great.
