Linda and Michael Spector (Glenn Close and James Woods) are unable to have children and pregnant teen, Lucy (Mary Stuart Masterson) decides that the Spectors can provide a better home for her baby than she and her boyfriend (Kevin Dillon) can. But when the day comes to actually give up her baby, it turns out to be much more difficult than she expected.
