The Kielys and Hennessys, Red Rock's feuding families, have a bitter history with no love-lost between them. After a row with Michael Hennessy, Darren Kiely has been knocked unconscious in what appears to be an attack. As Garda Sharon Cleere looks for security footage of the attack on Darren Kiely, she makes a shocking discovery.

Bridget Kiely, Keith, Darren, and ex wife of Vincent,returns to Red Rock after living in the UK.Liam is delighted to have his daughter home to help run the café. As she gets the café ready for opening, she can't help but think about the consequences her actions could have on their business. When a brick comes flying through the pub window, Patricia is keen on pushing the issue & seeking justice.

As James McKay and Claire Hennessy make their way to the hospital, things don't look good. Bridget Kiely remains intent on getting revenge on the Hennessys. After signing in at the station, Michael Hennessy meets up with his twin brother David & tells him the Gardaí wants to speak to him. As Keith Kiely plans to attack David, he doesn't bank on catching his sister Katie with him.

After discovering the man they treated is dying; Garda Sharon Cleere and Angela Tyrell must decide whether or not to tell him his daughter has died. David Hennessy must decide whether to attend Darren Kiely's wake/funeral. Despite saying he'll stay away, David Hennessy shows up at the funeral and causes hurt for the Kiely family who are less than pleased at his presence.

A mystery woman causes trouble for Garda Sharon Cleere and Paudge. As they investigate further, they discover something that could land them in hot water. Sexual tension hits Red Rock as Liam tries to keep things professional and business-like with café landlord Patricia Hennessy. Elsewhere, Bridget has her sights set on winning back ex-husband and she won't take no for an answer.

Katie lands on her feet with some good news. However problems arise that could ruin her chances. Patricia is fuming over a financial issue at the pub and she knows who's to blame. Sharon and Paudge finally solve the mystery of the woman, and they find the culprit of another crime. Sharon begins to piece things together about McGonigle and her worst fears are confirmed.

Patricia Hennessy suspects it was Katie Kiely who took the money from the pub and reports her to the Gardaí but when questioned, Katie, is adamant she is not the culprit. Meanwhile, Sharon shows partner Paudge the CCTV footage of Brian kissing a schoolgirl in his car but he wants nothing to do with it. As Paudge turns a blind eye, Sharon is uncertain about what to do.

Sharon finally confronts Brian with the CCTV footage of him kissing a schoolgirl but he denies everything. Michael Hennessy puts pressure on his brother David to end his relationship with Katie. David reluctantly agrees and promises to end their love affair. But, will David be able to stay away? Meanwhile a frustrated Paudge is forced to buy back his tenant Tony's debt.

As Bridget bags up Darren's belongings, grief overwhelms her, but a shocking discovery leaves her stunned. At the station Brian makes Sharon's skin crawl when he talks about "sticking together" and "covering backs". Problems continue at the Neptune café and Liam goes to sort things out with Patricia. Meanwhile Sharon and Paudge encounter trouble while on a call out at a flat complex.

The two matriarchs finally come face to face in a piercing showdown at the pub and Bridget tells Patricia a few home truths which leaves Patricia reeling. A fire is discovered in the flat and following on from the drama Angela is taken to hospital. Brian's sinister side is revealed when he crosses the line and takes his frustrations out on a suspect.

Patricia Hennessy is left fuming when she discovers David has been lying and is heading away for the night with Katie Kiely, and it seems it's not just David that is being dishonest, as McKay discovers when he heads to the hospital with Claire. Back at the station Sean and Adrijan deal with a woman whose car has been stolen, however all is not as it seems with the woman.

Armed with the knowledge that David is away with Katie Kiely, Patricia corners Michael and he has no choice but to start giving answers. David is summoned home to face the music. The truth finally comes out about the night of Darren Kiely's death but Patricia is determined to protect Michael and the trio make a pact to keep what they know a secret, from everyone, including Claire.

Brian comes under scrutiny when a serious complaint comes in following a bust up with a local youth, Ollie. Brian is one step ahead though after spotting Ollie in the interview room and covers his tracks with McKay. Sharon spots Brian leaving the café with Rachel Reid and is troubled even more by what she sees. Patricia has had enough of David and demands he end his relationship with Katie Kiely.

Brian decides to take matters into his own hands following a serious complaint that has been made against him. Angela's son Conor spots his dad kissing another woman, when he confronts him over the affair, Angela comes home from work and overhears them. Meanwhile David is feeling the pressure from both Katie and his mum, but Katie wins and he starts making plans to run away with his young lover.

Sharon confronts Rachel Reid about her dirty little secret & urges her to tell Liam what's going on between her & Brian. Rachel meets Brian and tells him what happened leaving Brian furious. Angela realises that there is something up with Conor and tries to talk to him about it. Conor's younger brother comes in with some wonderful news that he has just been scouted to play for Shamrock Rovers.

As Sharon and Brian investigate a warehouse, things take dangerous turn for Sharon when she is started on by three thugs. As Brian meets the men in the warehouse. Patricia and Claire discuss Michael's future with him, and the likelihood of a charge of manslaughter, with the prospect of a lengthy stay in jail. Paudge goes to the see Sharon and she reveals she thinks Brian was behind her attack. Meanwhile, back at the station, Adrijan and Sean deal with a man whose daughter is missing, but someone isn't being completely honest.

Superintendent James McKay comes to see a fragile Sharon in hospital. As Paudge comes to visit Sharon, she tells him of the danger of the situation. Sharon makes a surprise appearance and declares that she won't be opting for the transfer. Angela is apologetic and is determined to make a bigger effort with her family. Adrijan and Séan get to the bottom of the missing girl.

A vulnerable Sharon returns to work to a hero's welcome, but Brian is as determined as ever to see her off his patch and decides to step the harassment up a notch. Meanwhile, a cry for help from a man in the cells goes unheard by the Gardaí as they tackle a boisterous stag party. As the man goes into cardiac arrest, it's not just the stag party who are in trouble.

Darkness hangs over Red Rock garda station following the death of one of the inmates. The station comes under serious scrutiny, and when the Garda Ombudsman arrives, Sergeant Brian McGonigle, Adrjian, and Sean are all questioned over the fatal events. As the crisis develops at the station, Sharon is still struggling at work, and is threatened once more by a persistent Brian.

Brian continues his tyranny of Sharon and when an engagement ring that was handed in to Sharon at the station goes missing, she knows full well that Brian is behind it. Michael explodes when he discovers David is plotting to head to Australia with Katie. Back at the station, Sean is still rattled in the aftermath of the death in custody.

When David tells Katie he can't go to Australia because he feels guilty leaving his brother, Katie decides to take matters into her own hands. Brian steps up his vendetta against Sharon, he confronts her again, but this time Sharon fights back. The Gardaí are informed that the death in custody was down to a severe heart attack, but they aren't out of the woods just yet.

Katie's revelations about events surrounding Darren's death shock the Kielys, not least the fact that she was sleeping with the enemy. Sharon battles with Sergeant Brian McGonigle yet again after he deliberately sabotages her plans of going home for her dad's 60th birthday. Patricia is left red faced after Niamh picks up her suggestive phone call which was intended for her dad Liam.

Crime is a game for all the family it seems as David and Michael are dragged in for questioning. Unfortunately Claire can't protect both brothers from the jail cells and a second lawyer is drafted in to try & save David. A troublesome criminal gives Sharon a serious beating at work. As the Gardaí search the Kiely house for evidence to support Katie's statement, there are more shocks in store.
