Roadworthy Rescues

Just outside Amarillo, Texas, Derek finds a 1960 El Camino that's been tucked in a garage for 30 years. As he works to revive this classic, he uncovers the vehicle's suspicious past, with bullet holes, a secret fuel tank, and hidden storage compartments.

Derek heads back to his family farm in North Dakota, where his grandfather left a 1946 Ford grain truck. This truck has been out of commission since the 1980s, and he has to team up with his brothers Chris and Sean to get it driving in time to haul grain.

Derek finds a racoon-infested 1968 Thunderbird in Texas that's too disgusting for even him to drive home. So instead, he revives a 1971 International Travelall that's been off the road for 30 years to tow the turd-ridden Thunderbird back to his shop.

Derek battles fluid leaks and bad brakes just to get the Turd Bird back to Vice Grip Garage. There he tears the car down, blasts it clean, and gives it a new life with a modern touch. But it'll take an awful lot of elbow grease to make this one shine.

Derek heads to Guthrie, Oklahoma, where he's found a flathead straight-six, straight-body 1947 Studebaker Champion hiding in a storage container. Derek has high hopes of driving this one home, but quickly discovers some reasons this car was hidden away.

Derek has had a 1955 Pontiac Chieftain with a 287 V-8 sitting on the hillside waiting for a revival. He's keen to make this car a tribute to the early days of NASCAR, when a guy would kick off the hubcaps, paint on a number, and hit the track.

Derek heads to Lompoc, California, where he's found a 1940 Chevrolet gasser. David Freiburger helps sort through the car's long list of issues, with the hope of squaring up in an old-school-style drag race against Freiburger's '56 Field Car.

Back at Zweifel Motors in Piedmont, South Dakota, Derek Bieri has stashed the cheapest 1970 Pontiac GTO he could find. But when the key doesn't do anything, he decides to get it out of the field and take it over to his brother Sean's garage.

It's hay season in central Tennessee, and Derek needs a tractor with more horsepower. So he finds a running 1978 International Harvester 1086, but he'll have to drive it 50 miles to get it back to the farm. Getting it back is only half the battle, though.

Derek finds a '62 Bonneville that's been sitting for decades at a horse ranch in eastern Michigan. He'll have to replace the transmission and fabricate all-new motor and transmission mounts if he wants to cruise legendary Woodward Avenue in metro Detroit.

Derek hasn't given up on the Barneville, the 1962 Pontiac Bonneville he pulled out of a barn. He's determined to get it back on the road and give it a few upgrades, but he'll need some help to have it done in time for a special surprise ending.

Derek Bieri heads to Minnesota to revive a dirt track car he's had stashed away for years. It was a legend in its heyday, but with the car currently in pieces, he'll need the help of some skilled friends if he's going to bring his vision back to life.
